Question: Tables on WORM (read-only) partitions?

What do I have to do to put tables on a read-only optical drive partition? The tables will (of course) not be updated, just used for locating information in another part of the system.

Anyone done this?

On a related topic, anyone have any hints for configuring a large, write-once table besides setting pctfree low.
