On the other hand, I have converted a Materials Maintenance application from 6.0.36 to 7.0.15 in two days. The application was written by a forward-looking group, which made everything simpler.

I suppose the difference lies in the definition of 'convert' or 'migrate'. The supporting scripts for this application will have to be modified; I did not do that. There are probably some forms which don't run, but we haven't found them yet. There are also some procedures in the forms which can be brought down to the database, but that's a tomorrow kind of thing. I brought the running application from 6 to 7; the application developers compiled their forms, and away it went.

Is it tuned for V7? No. Does it use the bells and whistles? No. Is there more work to be done? Definitely! But it is up and running with Oracle version 7 in two days of work.

It can be done!
Mike
