I am posting this for a friend who does not get Internet ACCESS; I can direct answers/requests for clarification to him.
The only thing I can think of that he failed to mention is that Novell's LAN Workplace for DOS is providing the TCP/IP protocol to link to the UNIX Oracle DB in client server mode.
We're having some major problems with runform for Windows and user exits. The user exit gets called - I pop up a dialog in the first line. However, as soon as the call to IAF GET is made, I get a general protection fault.
To test out our installation, I did a fresh install of all Oracle Tools (for version #s see below) last night, logged out from the LAN (keeping tcp/ip alive) and got a new message:
Call to undefined dynalink
which seems to be a Windows message rather than an Oracle message. I have seen this message in documentation before, but can't remember which manual. I'm still looking. I have opened a TAR with Oracle, but they claim they can't reproduce the problem in their environment.
Hint - I did a listing of the usdwin.lib library that is linked into runform. There is also a DLL USDMEM.DLL which seems to have memory management and other utilities. This is apparently used by SQL*Net. Earlier in the week, I was getting a "File not found" message at the same point in the user exit for this DLL.
Here's a list of version info:
DOS:
SQL*Forms 3.0.16.12.11 SQL*Menu 5.0.11.12.3 Runform for Windows 3.0.16.12.11 Runmenu for Windows 5.0.11.12.3 Pro*C for DOS 1.3.17.08 Tools Utilities 1.0.10.0.1M Support Files 6.0.36.1.0
Windows:
SQL*Net for Windows 1.1.7.8 Support Files 7.0.16.2.0A
Note that we have all the VSL, JSB, and other installation issues have been ironed out. As recommended in the install guide, our ORAWIN is in the path before ORADOS so that the right DLLs get called.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
