 Ummm. Nice try. Give this a whirl:

  Create a file in MS-Write and save it using the following   file name:

              R&D_REP.WRI   This is perfectly legal under DOS.

   Now take a look at the file name when referenced by    any other Windows tool. You'll see the "R" and    then an underlined "D" and then the rest of the file    name.

  This is definitely a Windows implementation issue.   Any menu building stucture in Windows also uses   the "&" character to indicate underlined (and therefor   selectable menu items) characters.
