I've learned a bit more since my last post:
Secure Network Services is going to be an add on to SQL*Net to encrypt network packets in the Oracle 7.1 environment.
SQL*Module is proposed as an alternative to the pre-compilers as a way to call SQL code modules from 3GL's without actually embedding SQL.
