Funny thing you would ask that!

I am in the position of selecting the most appropriate front-end tool for the Oracle 7 database. And Omnis 7 is among the runners-up!

Other tools I have been considering are (of course):

MS Access/MS Visual Basic
PowerBuilder
Gupta SQL Windows
Symantec TEAM
etc.

In the process of choosing, I will evaluate the tools on basis of the following criteria (among others):

  • scalability both ways
  • integration (coupling) with Oracle 7 (soon to become 8?)
  • team develompent
  • graphical E-R modelling
  • concurrency handling
  • run-time performance
  • references (satisfied customers) (if any?)
  • price (least important)

Question: How does Omnis 7 stand up to these demands? Anyone with the neccesary experience may answer!

I would appreciate views on all the listed products, not only Omnis 7.
