We are just about to stripe our 40 gig database on a Pyramid Nile. Tests we have made show that we should see little (if any) benifits for the day to day work BUT.....

We have just gone live on Oracle 7.1.3 and it does make a large difference to parallel index build. For example, A 1 hour index build (sort in memory) can be got down to under 10 mins for a 4 disk stripe. Under 8mins for 8 disk strip. (this was for parallel seting of 5) . If no stripe was used the best I get was about 23mins.

We are going to stripe each raw disk file over 4 disks.
