SQL*Net V2 install

Hello,
I am new to Oracle, and I am trying to install SQL*Net V2 (Oracle 7.0.16.4) on several Sun workstations (Sun Os 4.1.3 and Solaris 2.3).
My question is, when I run the orainst script on the product CD, what do I install?
Do I need to install the Server software in addition to SQL*Net? (I originally installed Net and Forms) If so, why do I need the server software?
Also, is it possible, if I have to load the server software, to install it in a different partition than the $ORACLE_HOME? (We have memory problems with putting it all in one place.)
