Oracle Forms 4.0 questions

OK - I have a 4.0 form. I want to fire a trigger every time I enter a field (any field, that is). I have tried WHEN_NEW_FIELD_INSTANCE at the Form level. It doesn't seem to do anything. Yes, my validation level is the Field/Item (whatever they call it now!).

How can I do this? I need to capture the name of the field I JUST LEFT into a global variable.
