I'd like to find out what sites with very large databases (>20GB or so) do for backups. I'm trying to help someone with no access to the net who wants to back up a 60GB Oracle database on a Sun SPARCcenter 2000 inside a very small time window (3 hours) each night.
In particular, I'd like to know what sort of aggregate data rates people have been able to achieve, and what sort of non-traditional approaches (e.g. dumping to disk, breaking off mirrors) have worked out well.
Please respond via e-mail to chris_at_boxhill.com and I'll post a summary.
Thanks.
Chris
