Oracle and disk mirroring?

Gentlemen,
I have recently been asked my opinion as to the desirability of mirroring Oracle data files using the HP-UX Logical Volume Manager (LVM).
My gut response was horror at the notion. Am I right about this? Does anyone have experience or thought on the matter of using OS disk mirroring with Oracle databases?
