I'm not convinced. There are many reasons against it, too. And how do you explain that half of the job ads want PowerBuilder developers? (Well, PowerBuilder has annoying "features" also.)
By the way, in the original article, it's not fair to list C++ (and maybe VisualBasic also) among a bunch of specialized DB application tools.
