Choosing a PC operating system under which to run Oracle server

I posted the following article in this newsgroup on Saturday 30th April, but unfortunately my news server interpretted the posting as an instruction to unsubscribe me to this newsgroup, thus ignoring any reply-postings to the newsgroup over the last few days.
