size of Pro*C libraries?

Under SunOS and Oracle 7, a simple Pro*C program has an executable size of about 1MByte. By "size" I mean the size reported by the "size" shell command (not the "ls" file size). Is my conclusion correct, that the Pro*C libraries add about 1Mbyte to the size of your executable?
Are there shared versions of the libraries somewhere? Needed for AIX also. Is anybody concerned about this issue?
