ASTON BROOKE SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES
UNI-VISION MONITORING SOFTWARE
FOR OPEN SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
San Francisco --Aston Brooke Software announced the
release of Server-Vision for UNIX Servers at CODA, the
Conference of the Oracle Developer's Alliance here.
"Server-Vision is the next product in the UniVision family of systems management tools," said Mark Fetherolf, Product Manager at Aston Brooke Software. "The phenomenal response to DB-Vision for Oracle, the first product in the UniVision family which we released in 1993, encouraged us to accelerate development and release of the other UniVision products."
Based on the UniVision Architecture, DB-Vision for Oracle was released in May of 1993. This on-line performance monitor has grabbed the leading market share in the client/server market, with installations on 5 continents and the most substantial customer list of any product for Oracle performance management. Like DB-Vision, Server- enables 7-day per week, 24-hour per day fullyautomated performance management for UNIX servers anywhere in a customer's network from a central location. Server- operates with servers running SUN OS, SUN Solaris 2.3, RS6000 AIX, HPUX9, SCO UNIX, Sequent Dynix, and Pyramid DC/OSX.
Server-Vision samples and monitors key UNIX and server performance information and alerts Operations Management staff about emerging problems prior to their having an impact on users. Like DB-Vision, Server-Vision provides for automatic corrective actions, notification by e-mail and pager, complete performance history in a compressed archive in response to problems detected.
"All of the UniVision products interoperate tightly and share industrial process control-like infrastructure. This robust infrastructure enables them to perform at very high speed across very large networks with minimal impact on system and network performance," said Don Saunders, President of Aston Brooke Software. "DB-Vision and Server-Vision have been proven in the environments of very large customers. They are running in production against large databases having very large numbers of objects (over 30,000) and multiple servers supporting transaction rates of thousands per minute. Our years of industrial process control experience has had a big pay-off in performance."
Aston Brooke also announced the development and release schedules for the other planned elements of the UniVision product family.
WorldVision - the Network Topology Display which integrates and iconifies all database, server, and network objects in a customer's environment. WorldVision will enter Beta in March and be released in the second quarter.
Net-Vision - The UniVision product for performance monitoring and management of SNMP and Non-SNMP will enter Beta in April and May (in phases) and be released in the third quarter.
Event Manager - the UniVision product which integrates and manages all non-alarmed events in the customer's client/server environment will enter Beta in May and be released in the third quarter.
"In September, all of the key products in the UniVision family will be released and operating at full functionality," said Mark Fetherolf. "In addition, the development team is scheduled to keep our normal quarterly releases of extensions and improvements to the products. These extensions for Oracle Parallel Server, other UNIX platforms and other RDBMS products are important to our installed base of customers."
Aston Brooke Software, headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, developed DB-Vision and the UniVision family of products based in years of constructing monitoring and management software for very large process control applications such as Refinery Management.
