Check out an article in Fortune Magazine Sep/Oct/Nov 93 which features Larry
Ellison on the cover.Larry Ellison is the chairman of Oracle Corp.
This gives some info about what u are talking about
but at a very laymanish level. The product of Oracle which does the above
is called Oracle Media Server 1.0. Talk to Oracle and get a brochure on this.
This would be a good starting point.
Oracle Media server is available on NCUBE . Why NCUBE?Oracle partly
owns NCUBE :-) . Another reason is the data throughput in such video servers
is so high that it was felt that an architecture like NCUBE could handle it.
However it will be a matter of time before it is ported on other machines.
Hope this helps.
