I would greatly appreciate some help as we don't seem to get good enough technical support with Oracle in Thailand.

Our problem is that we keep getting a Stack Dump on the Netware File Server. We're using Netware V. 3.11, and Oracle RDBMS V. 6.0

Error message ...

System Halted Abend: General Protection Processor Exception

OS version: Novell Netware V. 3.11 (100 users)
       Running Process: Oracle

This has happened on average 5 times a month after using for last 5 months.

One solution tried was to change the File Server from Acer 1100/33 6MB RAM to a Compaq Deskpro 20MB RAM. Tried in December 93. After changing the server, stack dumps decreased.

The Oracle agent in Thailand has recommended...

  1. Upgrade SQL*Net SPX for DOS V. 1.1.1.0 to SQL*Net SPX for Windows V. 1.1.1.5 We tried this and it didn't work ie we couldn't even connect to the serverjr So we...
  2. Changed from SQL*Net SPX Windows V. 1.1.1.5 to 1.1.1.11 and still couldn't even connect to the server.

     We then
  3) Upgraded the Windows required support file (ORA6WIN.DLL) from Version 6.0.33 to 6.0.36. Tried in Jan 94.

    We're still getting stack dumps:-(

We did a rather inelegant solution by increasing RAM from 20 MB to 64MB. Changed the "db_block_buffer" from 1000 to 2500 Changed "processes" from 50 to 200
Increased "rollback segment" by another 100 MB. A
Is there someone out there who can help us solve these problems. If there's anything I missed out please ask...I'm not directly involved with this RDBMS admin work --but people at work have asked me to mail this.

Thanks a whole lot in advance,
