Is there a way in Oracle to automatically commit EACH embedded sql query as it is performed without explicitly calling EXEC SQL COMMIT each time?

Is there a precompiler option that does this, I couldn't see one, or some other method?

I'm told this can be done in OCI, so I would have thought something equivalent would be possible in embedded sql.
