Don't know if this relates to the Oracle6 connect problem, but with my config (Oracle 6 on Unix, PCTCP TCP/IP, MS Access, MS Excel, Foxpro Win, Forests And Trees), I had to change the ODBC connect string to
"t:{machinename}:{dbname},1024" to make it work. I haven't really seen
much in the way of performance degradations, either.
