Another reason for the deterioration of the relationship may be due to the fact that Microsoft aquired Foxpro. Along with Foxpro Microsoft got Fox's patented searching and indexing system which they plan to use to develop either Access, Foxpro, NT SQL server, or all three into possible high-end competitors to Sybase.
