Part I.
I can understand the feeling that many of you have with regard to the speed of applications of forms 4.0. I am currently developing in Ingres Windows4gl. This product compares to forms 4. When we got the product, there was no memory management, and the tools just took up all the memory until it crashed. Ingres then released v2, which added memory management. However, the tools still run slow.

This is not a slur on the ingres w4gl developers, but it's just part of life when you move from character-based apps to gui-based apps. When you go GUI, your system requirements just grow and grow. Remember, at one time 640k on an 8086 was a huge amount of memory.

Part II.
We are beginning an evaluation to select a new database/toolset.

What is the minimum recommended configuration for the following platforms to runtime and development in Forms 4.

SUN SPARCstation I/II/ELC (X-windows)
Macintosh.
Ibm-compatible pc. (Windows)

What configuration do you REALLY NEED so that you don't pull your hair out when you use the tools.

Thanks,
