I'd like some input concerning the comparison of PowerBuilder and Oracle tools (the new ones). A little background for you, we currently have Oracle 6 utilizing ReportWriter 1 and Forms 3. Another one of our databases is scheduled for a reengineering project converting it from a hierarchical database to a relational database. The engine will be Oracle 7. We are a little skeptical concerning Oracle's front end tools due to the fact that we experienced some real difficulties with their previous tools. My cohorts and I just sat through a demonstration by Oracle and PowerBuilder last week. We were all impressed, naturally, going from a character based system to GUI. And of course they both have alot of 'really neat stuff' , bells and whistles and that sort of thing.....but what about really tricky logic? What about creating reports with page breaks that include multiple pages with repeating fields and that sort of thing? What I would like is some words from the experienced folks out there with either tool concerning pros and cons of the product. Ideally, if there is some out there who has used both products and could pass some light on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance......... Feel free to Email directly!
