Hi all,

Here at Metro - Seattle were currently preparing to migrate Oracle Financials over to an AXP 3800 running OpenVMS. At this time we're entertaining implementing RAID 5 into the configuration, (RAID 0 & 1 aren't options due to budget constraints). I'm new to this news group and haven't had much time to read all postings, but has anyone done this? It'll be run on FDDI, with most of our users on LANs (and a WAN) running thinwire ethernet. I know we're going to pay a write penalty with RAID 5, however, most transactions will be query users only. And our writes are pretty small anyway. I'm concerned with efficiencies. Currently, on a VAX 4500 we don't seem to have too much of a response problem, but we will have an increase in end-users and they all expect to see incredible speeds with the new hardware (naturally!) Any advise, assistance, or insight with the use of RAID will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
