Same here, but since MD supposedly stands for "multi-dimensional," I had assumed this was an extension to handle more than 2 dimensional data structures. So who has an answer?
Obviously the market is demanding GIS. I see that Ingres 6.5 will handle these types, and also Montage, the new commercialization of Postgres.
