Hi Oracle-Gurus,
there's a problem comming up and I'm not sure how to solve it! here the facts:
we have a novell-server for our personal computers running netware 3.11 spx/ipx the dos-clients talk to the netware server via spx/ipx 3.10. there is also an oracle db on a unix workstation (HP-UX 9.0 on S9000/720) running Oracle-db 7.0.13.
well, so now we want to connect from the dos world to the oracle-db.
at the moment we do this via sql*net V1.1 tcp/ip and dos-lan-workplace.
the pc's are running lots of programs and start the db-software several
times a day.
the problem is to load all the stuff we need to connect to the db and after
finished the job to free the memory.
that's the way it works at the time.
with sql*netV2 we will be able to connect to the db-server via spx/ipx when we use our novell-server as a gateway?!?! if this is possible, now my question:
how do we do this?
what software do we need on the server - side, what at the gateway what
at the client.
how much is this additional software? and, is it already available? are there any hints to solve our problems, any expierience?
if you have a solution that fits our problem, please mail me :-)
thank you in advance, and, please forgive me my english ! :-(
Peter
