I'm just about to set up a new instance on a central Oracle engine and wanted to start off on the right foot by making suitable choice of SID. With only up to four characters to play around with I'm finding it a bit difficult. The SID will be user visible since people will be connecting in over SQL*Net from PCs and other odd places.
What suitable four letter names have other people chosen. Suggestions I've had from staff here include:
ORAC - computer/brain in Blake's 7
various combinations of UC (we're UCL) CC (computer centre) and DB
MAIN, USER, QUIZ, SAGE, SEER I've even considered FWIW (for what it's worth) and TANJ (there aint no justice!)
