A recent Information Week (11/8) has an article on Hops, a new database. "Hops is the most remarkable thing I've seen in 20 years," says CIO of American Signature. "It has become our most important computing tool," says Gladden of Westinghouse.

The story says that Hops runs on a Mac Quadra, handles 2.6 million row database queries faster than installed mainframes with custom software. Examples in the article cite query time of 2 hours on mainframe cut to 15 minutes with Hops.

Price tag is $500,000 or $20,000 a month to lease. Has anyone heard more about Hops? Benchmarks v. Oracle? Received on Thu Nov 18 1993 - 01:27:59 CET
