Regarding my questions on connectivity between Oracle v7 and VB with ODBC or with an API, here is the summary of replies:

Oracle Glue was recommended by the majority as the API between   Oracle v7 and VB

The ODBC drivers shipped with MS Access 1.1 have been used with   both Oracle 6.0.34 and 7.0.12 with AIX 3.2.5 on IBM RS6000

One reply found accessing Oracle v7 tables via MS Access to be   significantly faster than using ODBC, on an HP-9000

Q+E/VB from Pioneer Software can connect Oracle v7 and VB

Thanks to Paul Amato, Matthew D. Bennett, Sandor Nieuwenhuijs, Anton Dischner, David Dunn, and Yihpyng Kuan for their replies.

Cheers,
