Greetings:
I am writing an article for MacWeek magazine for a special section on multiplatform databases. This article is looking at databases of the future, specifically databases with hosts on PowerPC machines, Windows NT, etc. Since this is a Mac magazine, the specific focus is on how this will all affect Macintosh and Apple PowerPC users.
I would like to hear from people who have an opinion, either positive or negative, on this topic. Who is an AIX user who is waiting for AIX Lite on the PowerPC? What are companies looking for more powerful servers for existing databases, or looking to downsize from legacy applications, thinking about? Are people waiting for PowerPC? What do you want the database vendors (Sybase, Ingres, Informix, Oracle) who support AIX to do with their support of AIX on the PowerPC.
All comments, suggestions, criticisms, and pithy quotes will be appreciated.
I need your title and affiliation, so I can refer to you in my article. Something like:
Fred Flinstone, dinosaur operator at Slate Construction Co. in Bedrock, Calif.
Thanks,
