The last time I created an Oracle instance, both the rollback and the temporary segments were created with totally random sizes. When I got an error because I hadnt allocated enough space, I simply added another file to the appropriate tablespace and re-ran the program that failed. If it failed again, add some more space and re-run.

I'm about to set up Oracle on another machine and I thought that this time it would be nice to get the rollback and temporary segments at the right size to start with. Unfortunately I cant find any mention in the manuals about how I should do this. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

The platform is Oracle 6.0.36 on HP/UX and SCO UNIX.

E-mail any suggestions and I'll post a summary.

Thanks

Ian
