Image data in long raw fields

I am unsuccessfully attempting to place an image (.xpm format) into a long raw field in an ORACLE table using the sqlplus interface. Has anyone out there successfully pulled this off? If so, how?

More information:

	I have table called FOO with three CHAR(20) fields in it.
	I added a LONG RAW field to the table using the ALTER TABLE
	command.  This was successful.  I have a .xpm image that I
	want to place into that LONG RAW field.  It is a fairly large
	file so entering its contents character-for-character via the
	INSERT command is probably impossible.  This is where I ran
	out of ideas for placing that .xpm image into the LONG RAW
	field.
