What do Oracle users--and other database users--think of Oracle's use of discrete transactions? Does that technology invalidate the TPC-A and -B benchmarks? Did Oracle act responsibly in introducing discrete transactions? Does anyone really rely on database benchmarks anyway? If so, how, and to what extent? Should the TPC scrap TPC-A and -B? If they're tainted now, can they be revived? If so, how? Thanks for any thoughts. This is for a newspaper story; your remarks may be quoted and attributed to you unless you ask me not to.
