I've been working on loading Oracle 6 (..don't ask!) on a Sun 690 MP (Solaris 1.1..or if you prefer SunOS 4.1.3). This is the first time I've loaded Oracle on a UNIX box. I've been reading alot about the performance enhancements you get by setting up raw partitions. But, being a systems-type person I tend to shy away from it for obvious reasons. I've heard from Sun that you could possibly get 40% better performance. ORACLE avoids the conversation...saying its not worth it (at least the techs I've talked to have).
Can I get some feedback from some of you?
Thanks,
Beth
