Yes there is such a beast out there and it is called DDS/Patrol (ie if it is what you are referring to). DDS stands for distributed Data Systems The product is written by a company in Sydney, Australia and Oracle financed part of the development. One of the main developers name is Martin Picard. Yes, all you Oracle staff out there, Martin Picard was a former Oracle staff who used to work in the networking area.

Oracle's involvement in it was to help incorporate the Oracle knowledge into the product. Basically the product could monitor any DBMS if you wanted to. It is GUI and has voice as well (I believe). I had a chance to play with it and it is worth having a serious look at. The product is currently in beta test at some sites in Aust.

I could go on and on about it but I dont have the time. If you want, you could contact you Oracle rep and asked for some documentation. I received about 15 pages in all.

Oracle will be marketing the product and some ridiculous figures have been thrown around about the cost of the product. There are two parts to the product, the master and client with different prices for each.
