Hmmmmmm.....

We do large scale, 24-hour uptime production client/server processing with ORACLE 6.0. Each of our 14 database LAN's in the USA and Norway consists of a database server and client workstations that connect via sql*net. We also do WAN processing between these LAN's. And, believe me, it is serious processing that analyzes data from seismometers to automate the location of seismic events.

The main problems I have seen over the last few years are:

o snow piling up on satellite dishes, interrupting communications
o solar flares hitting the earth, interrupting communications
o work crews at various places and times digging through cable (oops),
       interrupting communications
o users that remotely do killer sql queries on the multi gigabyte data
archive during critical international data processing (and we ask why
       Dale Cooper drinks?).

In other words, if the network link is stable, connecting to the database is no big deal. It's what you do once you are connected that you need to worry about. :-)

As for the original question:

>>Are there any good books on Client/Server computing USING ORACLE Version 6.0?

Let me know if you find out about any good books. There are lots of us out here doing Client/Server computing and any helpful tips are always appreciated.
