Guess (1) shared libries mucked up, you say no Guess (2) some option missing from you kernal build file.

          certain options build extra system calls into the kernal.

	  trace the process that blows out by editing the command from the
	  script & then using trace(1), you will get a better idea of what don't
	  work.
