non-vt100 keys using SQL*REPORTWRITER as vt100

I am using SQL*REPORTWRITER on a CYBER 995 running the NOS/VE operating system. I invoke SQL*REPORTWRITER with the term=vt100 option. When I hit the "key help" function key (F1, or esc O q), there is a display of functions and their associated keys. Some of the keys displayed are not defined for a vt100. The most important for me is the key to toggle from insert to replace mode, which is listed as: INS. I have no idea what actual escape sequence is supposed to handle this, since no key on an actual vt100 is labeled INS and no insert/replace mode function is described in a vt100 manual. The keys described in the "key help" screen as F1 etc. refer to the numeric keypad (thus, as mentioned before, esc O q works as F1 to get the KEY HELP displayed). There are also shifted and control function keys listed, and F10 is also listed. These are also basically undefined on a vt100. So, how do I find out what sequence to send to effect these functions?
