No tools. (Well, unless you count SQL*DBA and stuff like that.) Actually, the v7 in use today may still be Alpha (it was installed at 12 customer sites I believe); beta either just shipped or is just about to ship, so I doubt many sites have it up yet.

BTW, Alpha v7 has been in use for some time inside Oracle; we use it for one of our production databases. The Bug database. (Fitting, I think. It guarantees that the programmers get to experience their own handiwork in a very tight feedback loop.) Similar to the Oracle programmers who wrote Oracle Payroll: I heard that they were the first people to get paid using it. "Is the code finished?" "Sure." "Great. Your paycheck is going through it." :-)

Since it looks like I'm going to be one of the (internal) beta users, I'll know a whole lot more about Beta V7 in a few weeks.

>Thank you for your time.

As for the tools, that has nothing to do with the release of RDBMS v7.

The next set of tools is supposed to be v4 Forms, v2 ReportWriter, v2 of Oracle Graphics, v2 Oracle Mail, and so on like that. But since v4 Forms is supposed to work with v6 RDBMS, and v3 Forms should work with v7, basically everything is supposed to work with everything else, so you won't need new tools. (Then again, I'm not in the Tools Group, so I could be entirely wrong -- this is what I remember being told.)

Also, I have no idea what the release schedule will end up being for the new tools. But they will have their own beta program, separate from the v7 RDBMS beta program. (Will have, or already do have, I dunno how far along they are.)

Incidentally, SQL*Net v2 was announced a while ago. So I want to mention that Net v2 will work with RDBMS versions 6 and 7, and that Net v1 will also work with RDBMS versions 6 and 7. Or so I was told by the marketing folks.

My personal philosophy is to believe nothing until I've installed the software for myself. So: I'm not empowered to make promises, and I'm not making promises. Got it?

Just trying to answer peoples' curiosity...

Cheers.
