The default maximum number of extents for any object on the sun-4 platform is 121. The following is from the Installation and User Guide for 6.0.30; page 2-29:

Maximum block size             maxextents value
------------------             ----------------
 512 bytes                              25
 1k                                     57
 2k                                     121
 4k                                     249
 8k                                     505

The only way to increase the maxextents is to change the block size, which requires a full export/import.
