Daniel, your reply seems kind of a stretch considering the main object seems to be extracting data and placing it in files or spread sheets for customer use. Both actions are normally perfectly legal under SOX. From a practical point of view SOX means whatever your auditors say is allowable. I know some auditors dislike heavy spreadsheet use by financial departments since past audits have shown that formula and calculation setup errors are common. Nevertheless, there is nothing in SOX that forbids their use.
