Hello,
Despite not being a supported install technique we have in the past managed to install the oracle 8 client onto a network drive. We achieved this by installing locally and then moving the files to the network and modifying the environment path entries and oracle registry keys.
Unfortunately, repeating this with the oracle 9 client has been unsuccessful.
Has anyone managed to install the oracle client on to client machines by hosting the files on a network, not relying on the oracle universal installer?
At least, is it possible to host the tnsnames.ora file on the network?
We are trying to avoid installing locally because we have 200 machines to update. They all have limited free space.
