Test the ODBC connection with a tool other than Crystal - could be some obscure Crystal issue. I noticed that the OP posted using Outlook, so there's a good chance he also has Excel on his machine.

some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
