I agree that AQ might not be fast enough in some circumstances, then again under some conditions any message queue system might be 'too slow'. Oracle has improved the performance a lot over the various versions - from awful in the beginning (8.0 and earlier) to acceptable for many apps, to 'fast'. However, 'fast' is relative and must be tested.

To OP - AQ is considered part of the ORacle database 'integration' technology. There are white papers and tutorials about it at http://otn.oracle.com - go to database, then integration.

Just had a moderately relevant thought earlier today, and want to check whether anyone has done it yet ... with the USB memory keys/sticks so inexpensive (Cdn$70 for a GB) has anyone tried putting a tablespace on the key (and tested performance). Yes there are risks, but ...
