I'd guess Altova don't really want people like us to look at the product, otherwise they would have done the research necessary to define their user base and find out the appropriate method of communicating with their potential customers.
After all, they would have phrased the announcement as a request for assistance, or they would have realized that many of us prefer such posts go to comp.database.oracle.marketplace.
Aside from thinking that we may want to crisp up the charters to accomodate the self-styled 'letter of the law' people, I'm getting pretty bored with the entire announcement issues. I therefore express thanks to Daniel Morgan for putting in the effort necessary, as his opinion (if not the actual wording) is similar to mine.
