I think you just made my point. A lot of people can write C. A lot of
people use C++ to write C ...
and that is a tragedy. For you to think Java is easy but then state that
you are not "particularly good"
with OO is exactly the point I was trying to make when I emphasized the
word "WELL".

I couldn't agree more. I am one of those that teaches those university
classes. The work is very
intense. But the material we cover provides the basis for people to
truly learn the subject.
