Given that you already own the hardware I can't see any real reason to
change operating systems
though either will work. But I can come up with an extremely good reason
not to move to Oracle 8i.
Oracle has announced, at least a year or so ago, that they are beginning
to end support for it as of
December of this year. Anything other than 9.2.0.+ makes no sense.
