generic package replacing forms built-in QBE

Hello,
blocks based on packaged procedures are great. Unfortunately there is no longer both the "query by example" feature and the
:SYSTEM.LAST_QUERY system var to retrieve the where-clause from.
can s.o. point me out how to put similar functionality in a generic package handling all the data-types and operators in a way like QBE build-in does?
(Forms 6i, ORA 9i R2 on HP-UX 11i)
