9iAS R1 is already obsoleted or soon will be. 9iAS R2 V9.0.2.1.0 (a.k.a. Beverly Hills release) give MUCH better performance over R1 if/when you get all the bugs ptached or worked around.

Supposedly V9.0.4 will be released Real Soon Now (RSN) and is purported to be "much" better than all previous releases. Of course that is damning with faint praise.

For example Reports Server V9.0.2.1.0 for Solaris can NOT print directly to a printer. Once you patch this problem, you discover that each Reports Server engine process will print successfully ONE report before it refuses to function (again). So apply yet another fix to limit the engine life to ONE report and now you can send multiple reports through the s/w, but the system overhead from starting new JAVA engines tends to degrade reponse time.

Find bug, patch bug, repeat.
Lather, Rinse, repeat.
