Yes, Oracle9i Personal Edition >>> for Windows98 <<< is installable on Windows98. Oracle9i for NT/Win2000 is not generally considered installable on Windows 98, mainly because the Windows NT/2000 branch provides a lot of different, and differently named, infrastructure support than the WIndows 95/98/ME branch.

It sound like you are trying to install the NT/2000 version on Windows98. That is like taking a large square peg and trying to push it into a small round hole; it generally does not work well and causes all sorts of secondary pain (for yourself and for us trying to help you.)

So if you are trying to install the NT version on Windows 98, please stop and get the right version. If you are installing the Win98 version on the Win98 machine - what action does the Install manual recommend?

I strongly advise you to closely read the Installation manual that should be on the CD, the Concepts manual that is either on the CD or on OTN, and the Adminstrator's Guide. All of these have HTML and PDF versions.

(Aside from that, as a personal request - please do not overuse abbreviations (like "n e wayz", which I assume means "anyways") There is rarely any savings, and your request required 3 re-reads before I realized you were using abbreviations as well as typos, and not just typos.)
