Remember, usenet is not defined by a single organization or company. With Oracle, we have to do things the way Oracle Corp decides. With usenet, we have to accept diversity.

There is a common myth that someone somewhere has defined an appropriate set of netiquette rules. But if you look behind the curtain, you'll see that there are no rules. And I have seen some convincing arguments that indicate that my preference for bottom posting does have some drawbacks for others on this NG ... like those who use Google as their newsreader.

In my own case, I've learned that what I like or don't like about how people post to NGs doesn't amount to much. What I like ain't worth doggie-doo to anyone else. Instead of letting it upset me, I just look at the content of what they say ... whether it's at the top, bottom, or - as some have tried - at the side.
